The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child's first dental check-up to be no later than age one, with semi-annual check-ups for most children. Some children need more frequent dental visits because of increased risk of tooth decay, unusual growth patterns, or poor oral hygiene.
-
If your child has one or more cavities, tooth-colored dental fillings can help restore both the function and appearance of their teeth. Our composite fillings are made of dental resin, which can be matched precisely to your child's natural tooth color.
We use only top-quality materials to repair damaged teeth and ensure that your child receives the highest level of care possible when it comes to treating cavities. -
In cases where your child's tooth has a large, deep cavity, a pulpotomy procedure may be necessary. Sometimes referred to as a "baby root canal," this treatment involves opening up the tooth, removing the decayed nerve, and applying a protective covering to restore and safeguard the tooth's pulp.
Following the pulpotomy procedure, your child's tooth will be repaired and restored to a healthy condition. This treatment can help prevent the need for more extensive and costly dental procedures in the future, ensuring that your child can maintain a healthy smile for years to come. -
Tongue tie is the non-medical term for a common congenital condition that limits the use of the tongue, called ankyloglossia. Ankyloglossia can affect how a child speaks and eats and interfere with breastfeeding.
Lip tie is a similar congenital condition in which the tissue that tethers the upper lip to the upper gum is overly large or tight. Lip tie most often occurs in conjunction with tongue tie rather than on its own. Both conditions can cause ongoing health problems in infants and children due to the restriction of movement of the tongue or lip.
Tongue and lip tie laser surgery can correct these problems through a relatively simple procedure in which Drs. Andrew and Marcus can perform in the office. -
We offer minimally inhaled sedation, commonly known as "laughing gas," as a safe and effective way to minimize anxiety and fear during dental treatment. This colorless and odorless gas creates a feeling of happiness and euphoria when inhaled, helping to create a safe and comfortable environment for children during their dental visit.
Laughing gas is the lowest level of sedation and is not intended to make your child sleepy or put them to sleep. Instead, it is designed to calm and reduce anxiety. The gas is administered through a comfortable, flavored nose mask and we only use a 50% laughing gas and 50% oxygen mix. Our dentists will monitor the gas levels throughout your child's treatment to ensure their safety.
Once treatment is complete, we administer 100% oxygen, and the effects of laughing gas wear off in about 5 minutes. This means that your child can return to their regular daily routine immediately after their appointment without any lingering side effects. -
If your child experiences heightened anxiety in a dental setting, we can ensure a safe and effective treatment with the support of IV sedation or general anesthesia.
We bring in highly trained anesthesiologists to administer IV sedation in-office and ensure your child is properly sedated and monitored. This allows our team to concentrate fully on delivering top-quality dental care. -
We will always prioritize preserving your child's natural teeth whenever possible. However, in some situations, extraction may be the best course of action. This can be the case when a tooth is too damaged or infected to be saved, such as in the event of an untreated cavity or oral trauma.
We provide sedation options to ensure that your child's extraction procedure is comfortable and pain-free. Typically, recovery lasts between 3-7 days, with complete healing taking up to 2 weeks. During the first day after treatment, your child should avoid actions that may dislodge the blood clot, such as spitting forcefully or using a straw. A soft-food diet is also recommended during this time. We will provide you with comprehensive recovery instructions to help facilitate proper healing. -
Sealants act like a barrier to protect teeth from getting cavities. Studies show that sealants can reduce cavities by 90% after placement. It’s a painless and an easy way to help protect teeth from sugar bugs!

Since every child is unique, the need for dental X-rays varies from child to child. In general, children need X-rays more often than adults, because their mouths grow and change rapidly, and they are more susceptible than adults to tooth decay.

Let's get those teeth in formation! Guidance of eruption and development of the teeth and jaws are integral to each child's dental visit. The goal is to develop a stable bite that is both functional and aesthetically acceptable.
Early diagnosis and successful treatment of developing malocclusions can have short- and long-term benefits while achieving proper function and aesthetics. Children may have two phases of orthodontic treatment depending on your child's conditions.
FIRST PHASE
The first phase usually occurs around 8-10 years old and corrects a little problem to prevent a bigger issue once all adult teeth have erupted.
SECOND PHASE
The second phase usually occurs once all adult teeth have erupted.
